Kindly note that the Events below have been organised for DANDA Members and their Carers / Family Members / Associate Members only unless indicated on individual entries. If you are a non-member but wish to attend a Members’ only event, please contact us in advance using the details on the Venue and Contacts page. As a Charity, DANDA is unable to finance events where a charge is incurred, therefore, Members should be able to pay for the event when required. Also, if presentation slides for our talks are made available either before or after the talk, these will be available for download and printing from the London Members Meeting Folder, for all Members to access – DANDA is no longer able to print off copies in advance of a talk.
Regular Monthly Meetings for London Group Members:
Kindly note that all Members can attend the London Group Events.
First Tuesday of every month: Young DANDA at the Knights Templar Pub (Click here for Venue and Contacts Details) – EXCEPT JANUARY 2013 – SECOND TUESDAY (JANUARY 8) due to Bank Holiday on the first Tuesday. Kindly note change of venue from January 2013 – The Cartoonist Pub has closed down. Young DANDA Pub Night Meetings are under review – if attendance remains low, as has been in 2012, Young DANDA will fold, therefore, it will be in the interests for those who would like to see this meeting continue throughout 2013 to attend on a more regular basis.
Third Week of every month (Except December): Members Meeting 7 pm PROMPT at University College London (UCL), Euston (Click here for Venue and Contacts Details). Kindly note that the talk will commence promptly at 7:00 pm, therefore, we would appreciate if those who want to attend, would arrive before 7:00 pm, to avoid interrupting the speaker. Those who arrive late will have to wait until the break.
For Security reasons, UCL have requested that on arrival, ALL MEMBERS MUST report to the Security Officer and/or Claire or Neil at Reception and sign in. See Monthly Events below for further details – the date may vary due to room availability at University College London
Guided Walks and Talks organised by Julian Romain:
Julian Romain is a City of London Blue Badge Guide. Please find attached a list of Guided Walks and Talks that he has arranged for the General Public, not just DANDA Members (click here for further information). There will be a variable charge per person plus either an entrance fee or small donation where applicable (Julian will provide further details for specific events) – details under each event. Kindly note that if any Member is interested in these events, they will need to contact Julian directly on 020 8599 6500 (leaving a landline contact number only) or e-mail him on
jromain@live.com and arrive up to 15 minutes prior to the advertised meeting time.
Kindly note that any guided walks or talks that Julian arranges specifically for DANDA Members only will be advertised below under the Monthly events section.
DANDA Events - as at 30 December 2012
Future Monthly Members’ Meetings for London Group Members: Kindly note that the due to refurbishment at Kaplan College, London Bridge, London Group Monthly Members’ meetings will now be held at University College London, Euston. There is no Members Meeting in December 2012 due to Christmas Break. Please check Website for next meeting - The next meeting will be held in April 2013, due to the National Charity closing and DANDA London being created.
January to April 2013:
As many Members are aware, the National Charity currently operating as DANDA is closing in the New Year. A New Group, DANDA London, will be created, to continue the aims and objectives of the existing charity organisation. Although there is a name change, Members (as well as those Members whose Membership has expired) from the existing National Charity are welcome to join or transfer to the new group.
As we are in a transitional period, Members Events, such as London Members Talks and day trips have had to be suspended until April 2013. However, the pub night social meetings (Young DANDA and the Main DANDA pub nights) will continue.

May 2013:
Saturday 4: 10:30 am prompt to 11 am, EGM at Wilkins Gustav Tuck LT Building, University College London (UCL) Gower Street, London, WC1E 6BT – An EGM has been called for Members ONLY to attend to consider the closure of DANDA. The notices and paperwork for the EGM have been posted to all Members. For those attending the EGM, please ensure you arrive on time, to register your presence – late arrivals will be admitted at the discretion of the person on the registration desk.
